The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region with almost 600 million inhabitants consists of very different countries in every respect. Economically the bandwidth spans from wealthy city-state Singapore to emerging markets such as Malaysia and Indonesia to less-developed countries such as Laos and Myanmar.
